Another Wave Rolls In

In Azusa street, there was a preacher who had never been filled with the Holy Ghost before. He preached a sermon stating that the first evidence of being filled with the Holy Spirit was spreaking in tongues. Since he had never recieved the Holy Spirit, he was kicked out of the church. He set up his own Bible study and after weeks of prayer and fasting, he got filled with Holy Ghost Power. Most Christians today, disregard the baptism of the holy spirit as something that "happened in Acts". Some believe miracles don't happen today but were just for the "Old Testament". Another Wave Rolls in describes a historical event that happened in the early 1900s. You can find secular articles on what happened at Azuza Street too, evidence it really happened. This book details the eyewitness account by Frank Bartleman of God's outpouring of the Holy Spirit on normal, everyday people. Whether you believe in the baptism or not, you can read for yourself, and see what an amazing God we have. Enjoy!

Practical Prayer by Hugh Redwood

What to do when revival has struck, and souls are coming to Christ?  What to do when your church has launched a campaign and people are coming to Christ? O, we need to pray for those souls. The author suggests sending converts to  prayer schools, as prayer is fundamental to the survival of Christianity. Hugh Redwood explains that unless we grasp the teachings about the Kingdom of God, we cannot pray effectively. Redwood expounds on the encounter withe Niccodemus and Jesus, taking you right from your seat, right into that secretive encounter at night. And this is were practical prayer starts--when you start to get a glimpse of the Kingdom of God, when you start to have a neaningful conversation with God--this is when you learn how to use prayer to communicate effectively with God, and get what you need right at this very moment. In the Power of the Spirit

This is a powerful book, explaining the necessity of being baptised in the Holy Spirit. Coming from a reformed church you may think "Is this some kind of weird Pentecostal teaching?" If this is your question or you don't know much about this topic, I encourage you to read the book. W. E. Boardman follows those in the Old Testament who were filled with the Spirit as well as delving into the New Testament, showing examples in the life of Jesus, our Lord, and the Acts of the Apostles. Questions you might have concerning this topic are fully covered, and it is the author's prayer that at the end of the book you will be mightily filled with Holy Ghost Power. Here is a testimony quoted in the book:
"I just abandoned myself to Jesus to do what He pleased with me, and there left my case and was at rest. Very soon after that I began to be filled with the fullness of God..."

In his steps

If Jesus came back today, would you be ready? In his steps is an inspiring novel by Charles Sheldon, that poses the real question "What Would Jesus Do". A church can have the best choir, the best teaching, and good attendance, but what impact does it really have on our every day lives. Although this may not be the most exciting of novels, this book is life changing and really gets you to think "Would Jesus Do This?" The church is definetly rocked to its core, and just one simple question changes everything. The lives of individuals in the church are followed as they take the difficult task of only doing what Jesus would want them to do for an entire year. This book, although written in the 1800s talks about issues in the church that are happening today. I highly recommend this book as it will change your life! Brought to you by Noble books

So Many Versions?

The Bible is the most popular book on the planet. But with so many versions, how do you choose the right one. Sakae Kubo & Walter Speecht thoroughly scrutinize each version of the Bible, showing the flaws, and the advantages of each version. At the end you are given a decent guideline of how to choose the right version for you. I would highly recommend this book if you are really not sure what version to pick

"There are various purpose that different versions are designed to serve. It would be unfair to judge every version on the same basis. Almost every version contains an introduction that, among other things, states the objectives the translator or translators had in mind in producing the work."

The lives of Enoch Powell

Enoch Powell is most known for his "Rivers of Blood" speech This has made him notably one of the most revered, but also one of the most reviled speakers in British history. Here he is condemmed by some to be racist. In this book Patrick Cosgrave certainly unveils the astonishing personality of Enoch Powell. Enoch Powell, who served as a private in World War II,  who later became a British Politician,  and was then awarded an MBE by the Queen. Cosgrave paints this man as a man of dignity. However, Cosgrave doesn't shy away from the fact that Powell created some enemies too. At Powell's height, he gained up to 82% popularity. In Powell's later political career, he represented Northern Ireland in Westminister. It could be said that Enoch Powell had many lives as he acheived so much in his life. Here is a quote from Mr. Powell:
"What I take racialist to mean is a person who believes in the inherent inferiority of one race of mankind to another, and who acts and speaks in that belief. So the answer to the question of whether I am a racialist is no--unless, perhaps, it is to be a racialist in reverse."
